Quality

Olymco, Inc. describes a quality management program supported by an in-house lab. When qualifying the shop, start with the coating specification, acceptance tests, and records your part requires, then ask for current evidence of any registration or customer approval your purchasing process needs.

What does Olymco measure?

Olymco’s published quality policy names two objectives, continual improvement and customer satisfaction, and how it measures each.

Continual improvement
Internal audit reports, corrective action trends, supplier delivery and quality, and monthly tank certification by an outside source.
Customer satisfaction
Product quality and on-time delivery.

These are the program’s own objectives and checks. Ask for the current records your supplier review needs.

In-house lab

Olymco’s published lab information lists two kinds of check.

Bath analysis
Weekly wet analysis of every plating bath.
Coating tests
Thickness, salt spray, and CASS, run in house or through an outside accredited lab, depending on the requirement.

Olymco says it aims to run every plating bath at peak chemistry, and that having its own lab lets a problem be checked and corrected right away, or prevented.

Confirm which tests are available for your process, where they will be performed, and what report will accompany the work. Bath analysis checks the plating chemistry. Testing a finished part against your acceptance criteria is a separate step to agree.

Quality questions can be directed to the quality contact. For the facility context, see the plating plant information.

Documentation to agree before ordering

Agree these four with Olymco before the first order.

Required tests
Name the governing test method and any sampling requirement.
Inspection records
Give the inspection locations, and say whether you need dimensional results, thickness measurements, corrosion test reports, or other records.
Certificate or specification reference
Name the governing specification and the certificates required. If a registered quality system or customer approval is mandatory, ask for the current certificate and its scope.
Acceptance criteria
Define the acceptance criteria and critical dimensions. Agree who handles a nonconforming part and what information an investigation needs.
